New Roof For Cherished Memorial Hall

Sussex Inlet RSL sub-Branch has been progressing with our plan to unveil a refurbished memorial hall in time for our 50th anniversary. The half-century-old corrugated iron roof had been showing signs of deterioration, and a major restoration was overdue.

Thanks to funding grants from the NSW Office for Veteran Affairs’ and Community War Memorials Fund to the tune of $15,000, which were matched by sub-Branch funds, fundraising from the sub-Branch Auxiliary, a donation from the Sussex Inlet Lions Club, and generous contributions from members, our long-term plans are closer to being achieved.

“The memorial hall is in constant use by veterans and the local community, supporting organisations and group activities which encourage social connection, wellbeing and support,” said sub-Branch President Neil Barret.

With the help of a local contractor, our cherished memorial hall has been given a new lease on life, which will see it remain the hub of our sub-Branch operations and community activities well into the 21st century. As custodians of our memorial hall, we hope this major project and our plans for further upgrades to amenities will allow us to support the veterans and community of Sussex Inlet well into the future.
