Sussex Inlet RSL sub-Branch ANZAC Day commemoration activities 25/04/2025

“They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow,
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.”

Lest we forget.

Our Services

We aim to help build on and foster a sense of community amongst our members and the greater community.

Our sub-Branch activities help to providing essential information and support to veteran community, often at time when isolation and hardship are having there greatest impact.

Our members include avid lawn bowlers and golfers, who represent the sub-Branch in their discipline. Others are keen on fishing, boating and various other activities in the area which helps foster strong friendship amongst our member base.

Our sub-Branch also hosts a talk and BBQ lunch for Veterans, family and friends each October as part of NSW’s Mental Health Month.

At Sussex Inlet RSL sub-Branch, we support currently serving and ex-service veterans and their families through our welfare, well-being and education activities throughout the year.

Our sub-Branch Welfare Officer visits many members at their homes or in hospital, delivering meals and mobility aides, or just lending an ear. This service helps many less able veterans and their families to stay in contact with the world.

Members of our sub-Branch are able to point you in the right direction when it comes to questions about pensions and also help link you in with Department of Veterans Affairs.

Legacy is active in our local community, and anyone interested in nominating to be a Legatees is encouraged.

Our area is fortunate to have the Shoalhaven Veteran and Family Hub only a stones through away in Nowra. Please reach out to the sub-Branch or directly with the Hub if you’d like to find out more about the services and supports available.

Sussex Inlet RSL sub-Branch hosts a number of commemoration activities on ANZAC Day, including a Dawn Service at the War Memorial, a March along Jacobs Drive which steps off at 10am, and this is followed by a commemoration service at the RSL Club Memorial.

Sussex Inlet sub-Branch holds a combined commemoration service each year on 18 August, Vietnam Veterans’ Day.

On this day we recognise Vietnam Veterans’ Day, National Servicemens’ Day, Korean War Ceasefire Day, VP Day, Peacekeepers and Middle East Area of Operations.

On Remembrance Day, 11 November, we pause to remember the sacrifice of those who gave their lives in service across the world.

Our sub-Branch host a commemoration service each year to mark this important anniversary.

Our sub-Branch relies solely on its generous volunteers who donate their time to further our cause.

Current and ex-service members are encouraged to consider joining our sub-Branch, and non-service members may consider joining the sub-Branch Auxiliary whose members are vital to everything we do to support our veteran community.

Join us in our mission to pay tribute to those who have served, continue to serve and uphold the values of service.

As a charitable organisation, we are dependent on donations, fundraising and sales of sub-Branch memorabilia. Every little bit helps us to provide support to our veteran population and we sincerely thank everyone who donates their time and money to improving the lives of our community.

Our sub-Branch Memorial Hall is available to hire. We have a number of loyal local services and community groups who have become regular hirers of our space; however, if you’d like to support the sub-Branch through one-off or regular hall hire, please reach out us so we can discuss your needs.

About Us

Sussex Inlet RSL sub-Branch is a small sub-Branch located in the Shoalhaven on the beautiful NSW South Coast.

Our sub-Branch Hall is staffed Monday and Thursday morning each week. Please drop in to catch up or ask questions.

Members gather the first Sunday of each month (second Sunday of the month in September & October) at our Sub-Branch Memorial Hall for a General Meeting and fellowship. Members and visitors are invited to attend.

Our members are volunteers who donate their time to our common goal of commemorating and supporting the unique needs of service personnel. Our sub-Branch Memorial Hall is the hub of our veteran-orientated charity, also available for hire.

In 2024, our sub-Branch transitioned from an Unincorporated Association to a Company Limited By Guarantee. We retain our status as a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission (ACNC).
